About Spellevate

A daily word stacking puzzle — built from scratch, one letter at a time.

Spellevate is a free, browser-based word puzzle game where the challenge isn't just finding the right words — it's figuring out which letters can physically stack on top of each other without toppling. A new puzzle is available every day, and every player around the world gets the same one.

How It Works

Each day, players are given a set of available letters and a set of criteria to meet. The goal is to build words that satisfy the daily criteria while following Spellevate's stacking physics rules — a system that determines which letter combinations are structurally stable and which ones topple.

Letters have shapes. Some have wide, flat bases. Others have narrow or pointed ones. Whether a letter can safely sit on top of another depends on those shapes, and learning the rules is a big part of what makes Spellevate satisfying to master.

Who Made This

Spellevate was designed and built by a solo independent developer with a passion for word games and physics-based puzzles. The goal was to create something that had real mechanical depth beyond just vocabulary — a game where the physics of the letters themselves are part of the puzzle.

Every aspect of the game — the stacking engine, the letter validity rules, the daily puzzle generator, the animations, and the UI — was built from the ground up as a personal project.
